Pepperwood Preserve, CA

Took a field trip to the private Pepperwood with the Cal. Academy of Sciences today. The North Bay is a pretty fascinating mix of biological communities and microclimates, and representatively, the relatively small area of the preserve contains chaparral, oak woodland, douglas fir forest, and few narrow gullies of redwood / tanoak forest.

Mount Saint Helena (4342′) and the Mayacamas Mountains to the east.

Golden hills and sunshine, far outside the fog belt.
